New here? Start with this

PaceFolio is a notebook for your money. You type what you plan to save or invest, and what you really did. The app shows if you are on track. It never holds your money, never links to your bank and never tells you what to buy. New to money apps or to investing? That is fine. The Learn page explains every word.

Not sure? Start with Save. You can switch any time and nothing is lost.

Sound familiar?

These are the small money headaches PaceFolio is built to take away.

  • My numbers live in a spreadsheet and I no longer trust it.

One place for your plan and your log. Every figure says if you typed it or the app worked it out.

  • Every site shows a different price.

Several free sources side by side. If one is busy, the next one is used.

  • I never know if I am on track.

The dashboard tells you in one sentence how far ahead or behind your plan you are.

  • Nigerian shares are always an afterthought.

Prices, dividends and a reading page for the Nigerian Exchange, next to the UK and US.

  • Everyone is selling me a tip.

No tips and no buy buttons. Each idea shows why it ranks where it does.

  • My coins are spread over apps and exchanges.

One list for all of them. Type your coins in, or import a CSV file from your exchange.

  • I forget what I paid on average.

Add what you paid and see your average buy price and your gain or loss.

  • Crypto sites only ever tell me to buy.

No tips and no buy links. The risks sit right next to every story.

  • I do not want to hand over my keys.

No seed phrases and no private keys, ever. A public address or a read-only key is optional.

  • I save a little here and there and never see the total.

Set a goal and watch a ring fill up, with a date for when you should get there.

  • I do not know where my money goes.

Add what comes in and what goes out. The app shows what is left to save.

  • Bills that come once a year hurt.

A sinking fund spreads the bill over the months, so it is ready when it arrives.

  • I do not want to link my bank.

Nothing is linked. You type the numbers, so nothing can be pulled from your accounts.

How it works

  1. Set the plan

Pick a monthly amount, a number of years and a growth rate you are comfortable assuming. Split it across your holdings. Type a name like "apple" and the symbol fills in.

  2. Log each month

Type the money you added and what your account is worth. You can paste the numbers, or pull them in with a read-only Trading 212 or Alpaca key if you want to.

  3. Compare and review

See your plan next to what really happened. Read the Research pages and try the Ideas screens when you want to learn more. Ask the chat about whatever is on screen.

  1. Add your coins

Pick a coin from the list, type how many you hold and say if it is held, staked, in a pool or lent. Write where it is kept in a word, like "exchange". Or import a CSV file from your exchange and let the app work out what you paid on average.

  2. Set a monthly plan

Choose an amount, a growth guess you are comfortable with, and see a 10-year table of cautious, middle and bold cases. It is your guess, not a forecast.

  3. Watch and read

See live prices, the Fear and Greed gauge and Bitcoin network facts. Read a plain page on each of 30 major coins, how DeFi works, stablecoins, and the rules and tax notes for your country. Want a nudge? Set a price alert by email.

  1. Name the goal

A new laptop, rent, a rainy-day pot. Give it a target, what you already have, and a date if you like.

  2. Say what comes in and goes out

Add your income and your spending lines with limits. The app shows what is left over to save each month.

  3. Watch it fill up

A progress ring, a month-by-month log and a savings-rate chart show how close you are and when you should get there. Got a debt? Add it and see how long it takes to clear.

Read this first

Crypto prices swing hard and can go to zero. DeFi adds smart-contract bugs, hacks and stablecoins that lose their peg. You can lose all of what you put in, and nobody can reverse a wrong transfer.

PaceFolio is a tracker. It gives no advice, no price targets and no buy links. Rules and tax notes are general information and change often, so check them with an official source or an adviser in your country.

The app asks you to confirm you have read this the first time you open the Web3 space.

Try a savings goal

Move the sliders. Sample numbers only. The app does the same sum with your own.

Savings space: simple on purpose

No stocks and no coins. Just a target, the money you add and a dashboard that shows how you are doing.

Overview

A progress ring, goal cards with an estimated finish date, this month's flow and a savings-rate streak. See it in another currency too, with rates from several sources side by side and your own rate if you know better.

Goals

Up to 20 goals with a target, a date, a monthly amount and an optional interest rate. Plan for a bill that comes once a year with a sinking fund, or see what a goal will cost later if prices keep rising. See slower, as planned and faster cases for each one, and set which goal comes first when your budget cannot cover them all.

Debts

Add loans and cards, then see how long they take to clear and what an extra payment changes.

Share your goals

Make a read-only link for a partner or an adviser. You can turn it off whenever you like.

Budget

Income by month or year, spending lines with limits, and what is left to save. A 50/30/20 guide is there if you want it.

Log

Type what came in, what went out and what you saved, month by month.

Import statements

Add bank statements (PDF, CSV or Excel). Each row is checked against the running balance, and rows still marked pending are held back until they post. A matching balance proves the amounts add up, not that every row is in the right group, so you can change anything. You also get a balance report for each file, a list of what happened to every row, and a list of payments that repeat. Then it fills your Log.

Net worth

Everything you track in one number: investments, crypto, savings, minus debts. Each line shows the month its figure comes from, you can leave any line out, and you can compare any two months. It sits at the top of your dashboard, so it is the first thing you see. If your spaces use different currencies, the app finds the exchange rate for you and shows where it came from and when. Prefer your own rate? Type it and that one is used.

Trends

Savings rate over time and your average spending by line. Per month or per year.

Your choice

Hide any part of the dashboard you do not want. Works in any currency. A monthly email reminder is there if you want one.

Private by design

Your money figures are yours. The app asks for no bank login, no name and no date of birth. Just an email to sign in.

  • Two-step sign-in. At sign-up you choose an authenticator app (scan a QR code, with backup codes) or a passkey (fingerprint, face or screen lock).
  • Sign-in slows down after wrong tries and locks for longer each round.
  • Strong passwords only: long, mixed, not common, not in known leaks.
  • Keys you add are encrypted and never shown again. Wallet addresses are encrypted too, and deleted with your account.
  • Email alerts and reminders are off until you turn them on.
  • No ads and no third-party tracking. We only count how many times each page is opened, with no names or cookies. One sign-in cookie.
  • One button deletes all your data.

Questions

What is PaceFolio, in plain words?

A notebook for your money that does the sums. You say how much you plan to add and how much you really added, and it shows if you are on track. It does not hold money, link to your bank or tell you what to buy.

I am new to investing. Can I still use it?

Yes. If you only want to save for something, pick Save and ignore the rest. The Learn page explains every term in plain words.

Is this financial advice?

No. It is a personal finance tracker. It never tells you to buy or sell, never gives price targets and never promises a result.

Which coins and DeFi data does it cover?

30 major coins have a plain-English page, and prices come from free public sources (DefiLlama first, Coinbase as a backup). DeFi figures such as chain and protocol totals are live. If a source is down, the app shows the last good number and says so.

Does it connect to my wallet or exchange?

Only if you ask it to. By default you type what you hold. You can choose to paste a public address to read its balance, or add a read-only OKX key. Both are encrypted and can be removed in Settings. It never takes a seed phrase or a private key, and it cannot move coins.

Is crypto tax covered?

There are plain notes for the UK, Nigeria, the EU and the US, marked as information only and dated. Rules change, so confirm with an official source or an adviser.

Do I need to connect a bank?

No. You type your income, spending and savings. Nothing is linked, so nothing can be pulled from your accounts.

Can I use this just for savings?

Yes. Pick the Save space and ignore the rest. Each person chooses where they want to be, and can switch any time without losing anything.

What else can it do besides the plan and log?

Insights shows your real yearly return against an index, a range of possible futures with crash tests, whether you are still on your wanted mix, what a new holding would do to your spread, expected dividend income and a rough tax estimate. You can also import trades from your broker's CSV file, convert between currencies and show a second one next to your totals, and make a read-only link for an accountant.

Is my data private?

Yes. Each account's figures are kept apart and only your signed-in session can read them. The owner can see how many people have accounts and how many are around, plus each email and join date, but never your holdings or amounts. There is no advertising and no analytics. You can delete your account and everything in it from Settings.

Can I make it feel like mine?

Yes. In Settings you can add your first name and a picture. Your name shows in a friendly hello on your Dashboard that changes with the time of day and the space you are in. You can switch to dark mode by itself in the evening too. The name and picture are optional, kept encrypted, and you can remove them any time.

Who can use PaceFolio?

Anyone aged 18 or older. Sign-up asks you to confirm your age with one tap. We do not ask for your date of birth and we do not keep the answer.

What does it cost?

Nothing. There are no fees and no card details. If you add your own Claude key for the chat and research refresh, Anthropic bills the credit on your own account.

Which markets does it cover?

UK, US and Nigeria for research, tax tables and screens. Live prices cover most stocks and funds on Yahoo Finance and CNBC, US stocks on Nasdaq.com, and Nigerian shares on the Nigerian Exchange.

Does it need API keys?

No price source needs one. Only the optional Trading 212 or Alpaca link uses a read-only key that you create.

Where is my data kept?

Saved securely with your account so it follows you across devices. See the privacy notice for exactly what is stored.

Can I use my own currency?

Yes. Pick any symbol. The app does not convert or assume one.

About the creator

Peterson Nwoko, MBA

CTO | AWS Community Builder | Cloud & DevOps Architect | Web3, Agritech & Fintech Infra. Based in Nigeria.

I was tracking my monthly investing in an Excel sheet. It worked, but only for me. I wanted one calm place that showed my plan next to what I really did, with live prices and plain research for the UK, US and Nigerian markets.

Most tools I found were made for traders, or they were trying to sell me something. I did not want that. So I built the tracker I wanted, and now I am opening it to other people.

By day I am a technology leader with over 7 years of experience building and securing cloud platforms on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud. I am CTO at Verde Field, a Senior Cloud Engineer, and I am finishing an MBA at Nexford University. PaceFolio is my own personal project and is not connected to any employer or client.
